Thymosin Alpha-1 10mg peptide

Thymosin Alpha-1 10mg peptide: a research vial of thymosin alpha-1, a 28 amino acid thymus peptide tested in many human trials, the largest of which, in 1,106 people with sepsis, found no clear difference in deaths from placebo; this vial is for research and is not a medicine.

What is Thymosin Alpha-1?

Thymosin Alpha-1 10mg comes from the thymus gland: a peptide 28 amino acids long. More human trials exist for it than for most vials here, and the largest recent one enrolled 1,106 adults with sepsis.

It is used medically in several countries, a 2007 review notes. The vial in this catalogue is research grade, not that medicine, and carries no approval for use in people.

T cells, a key part of the immune system, mature in the thymus, and it was there that thymosin alpha-1 was first described in 1972.

A large part of its human research comes from China. The body of work is bigger than for most compounds here, and it rewards careful reading.

What the 4 PubMed papers cited for Thymosin Alpha-1 looked at, 2005 to 2025

A 2007 review describes it as a guide to the immune system, acting partly by way of the cells that detect germs.

Hepatitis B was the setting in 2005: 56 patients with the long-term form were randomised to thymosin alpha-1 or to interferon, and the study compared the two, side effects included.

The sepsis trials must be read as a pair. The 2013 trial enrolled 361 people with severe sepsis and counted deaths with and without the peptide. The 2025 phase 3 trial, some three times larger at 1,106 people with sepsis, counted deaths by day 28 and found no clear difference between thymosin alpha-1 and placebo.

Reading the Thymosin Alpha-1 record

This record is larger than most in the shop, which makes it tempting to read selectively. The two sepsis trials show why that is a mistake: the 2025 trial, about three times the size of the 2013 one, found no clear difference from placebo in deaths by day 28, so the two belong side by side.

The hepatitis B study compared thymosin alpha-1 with interferon, not with a placebo. Set up that way, a trial can only weigh one compound against another in that group.

Questions about Thymosin Alpha-1

Is thymosin alpha-1 an approved medicine?

Several countries use it as a medicine, according to a 2007 review. This research-grade vial is not that medicine and carries no approval for use in people.

How large were the sepsis trials?

The 2013 trial enrolled 361 people with severe sepsis, and the 2025 phase 3 trial 1,106. The larger trial counted deaths by day 28 and found no clear difference from placebo.

What is the difference between Thymalin and thymosin alpha-1?

Thymosin alpha-1 is a single natural peptide of 28 amino acids, described in the thymus in 1972. Thymalin is a mix of small peptides taken from animal thymus glands, not one molecule.
