Heart failure was the subject in 2025. For roughly two years, a trial followed 731 people with obesity and a type of heart failure in which the heart still pumps normally, counting heart failure events and heart-related deaths against placebo.
A 2025 study of energy use, run in mice and in adults with obesity, measured fat burning, hunger and the drop in energy use that dieting usually brings; that usual drop did not change.
