What is Vilon?

Vilon 20mg is about as small as a peptide gets: two amino acids, lysine and glutamic acid. Nearly all of its research came out of a single St. Petersburg group.

In shorthand Vilon is Lys-Glu, or KE. The Khavinson group in St. Petersburg made it, alongside Epithalon and several other short peptides in this shop.

PubMed lists about 80 records that mention Vilon, a few of them using the word for something unrelated. Forty-nine of them name V. Khavinson as an author.

What the 3 PubMed papers cited for Vilon looked at, 2000 to 2022

A study of female mice given Vilon, published in 2000, recorded their activity, their lifespan and their tumors.

Two years on, the group checked roughly 15,000 gene samples in mouse hearts, looking for genes whose activity shifted with Vilon.

In 2022, human immune cells were exposed to Vilon and four related short peptides, and the team measured signals linked to cell growth and inflammation.

Our search found no published study that gave Vilon to people. The mouse work is more than twenty years old, and the newer work stays in cells.

Reading the Vilon record

Vilon's record has two halves, about twenty years apart. The older half is mouse work on activity, lifespan and gene activity in the heart. The newer half is cell work on immune signals. Both come from the same research group.

The 2022 cell study looked at Vilon alongside four related peptides, so Vilon is one of five in the same paper. No outside group appears in the record cited here.

One link inside this shop is easy to miss. Vilon is lysine joined to glutamic acid, written KE, and later papers name that same KE as one of the main active parts of Thymalin 10mg. The 2022 study of human immune cells looked at both.

Its size makes it unusual. Most peptides in this shop run from three amino acids to dozens; Vilon has two, the smallest chain a peptide can be.

The record holds two older mouse studies and one recent cell study. In 2000, female mice received Vilon from six months of age. In 2002, researchers checked about 15,000 gene samples in mouse hearts. In 2022, human immune cells were tested in a dish.

Questions about Vilon

How short is Vilon?

Two amino acids, lysine and glutamic acid. That makes it a dipeptide, among the shortest compounds in the catalogue.

Is there human research on Vilon?

No human trial turned up. The record holds mouse studies from around 2000 and recent cell work.

Who made Vilon?

The Khavinson group in St. Petersburg. Forty-nine of the roughly 80 PubMed records on it carry V. Khavinson's name.
